We are saddened by the passing of our longtime friend, Gabriel P. Caprio. Gabe has been a fervent supporter of our ongoing preservation efforts in Port Jervis, New York, and he will be sorely missed. He was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam conflict, after which he became a career banking professional and served on several non-profit boards.

In lieu of flowers, Gabe’s family has graciously asked that donations be directed to support the Erie Turntable efforts in Gabe’s memory. We have created the Gabe Caprio Memorial Fund to accept and administer any donations we receive. The monies from this fund will be split evenly between Operation Toy Train of New York, the Dining Car Society, and the Tri-States Railway Preservation Society, the three organizations responsible for maintaining and operating the Erie Turntable site. These funds will be used to continue and expand the efforts that Gabe so passionately supported and enjoyed in his lifetime.
